MEHB 513 - INTRODUCTION TO NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGY

Course Objective
This course provides the introduction to nuclear technologies, beginning from the fundamental physics to its recent applications in power generation. Students will first be exposed to the basic atomic and nuclear physics and subsequently learn nuclear reactor applications, systems and components. Once the fundamentals covered, they willha learn about nuclear fuel cycle and processes. This is needed for them prior to the discussions on the applications of nuclear technology in the power generation industry, which will be the focus of the course. Also, students will be taught on radiation zard, its monitoring, as well as the related nuclear reactor safety concepts.

The primary aim of this course is to equip the students with necessary background for a more specific career and post-graduate in nuclear-related industries, particularly in power generation.
